New Zealnd Track and Field Championships

Dunedin 6^th – 9^th March 2025

Welcome to the newsletter for all those athletes looking at attending the NZ Track and Field Championships to be held in Dunedin 6^th – 9^th March 2025.

The official centre selectors are team for 2025 National Track and Field:

However, the centre Management team for athletes selected to represent MW at the National T&F 2025 team in Dunedin are Vanessa Hodge and Bill Twiss, with support from George McConachy.

ENTRIES:

ATHLETES

For those athletes wanting to be selected to be part of the Centre Team for nationals are required to compete at MW champs - unless they have asked for exemption in writing.

Complete a Selection form for Manawatu/Wanganui and get it to Vanessa Hodge by the end of the day on TUESDAY 18th FEB 2025: Should you meet any of the qualifying standards after this night, but before the closing of entries for Athletics NZ please notify one of the Team managers ASAP.

When you check the Athletics NZ, standards ensure you have checked the correct age group. Website: Athletics NZ website: www.athletics.org.nz

The Centre Champs dates are: Please check Athletics Manawatu Wanganui Facebook for information and events/times:

Tuesday 11^th Feb 2025: To be held in Wanganui

Tuesday 18^th Feb 2025: To be held in PN (entries due by the end of this event)

The team will be announced by Thursday 20^th Feb to represent Manawatu/Wanganui at Nationals 2025 via facebook page: PN and MW site.

PLEASE NOTE: As an athlete YOU are responsible for entering YOURSELF in the National Track and Field Champs before the closing date.

Please enter MW as your club/centre and if you are not selected, you are able to do an individual entry. You would need to check the Athletics NZ website for the criteria needing to be met.

If you have any trouble/queries or concerns, please discuss with the Management team ASAP.

TRAVEL

This will be the responsibility of the athletes/families to organise to and from PN- Dunedin.

If you are staying with the team at the team accommodation, a minibus will provided for you from and to the airport as well as throughout the national T&F champs. Ther will be a cost for this included on your invoice.

Please let Vanessa know of your flight times so we can ensure we arrange suitable times for transport.

Flight to Dunedin: Departs PN 6.50am arrives Dunedin 9.45am (via ChCh)

Bill Twiss: Departs PN at 10.10am arrives in Dunedin at 1.05pm

All Managers departing Dunedin on Monday 10^th March

Dunedin 8.10 am arriving PN 11.30am (via ChCh)

George will also be a support manager staying at the same accommodation.

UNIFORMS

Please ensure you have organised the correct centre singlet/crop top :

Crop top: $65 each- contact Vanessa Hodge

Singlet: $30 each – Contact Bill Twiss

If you are requiring a singlet/crop top contact the above persons ASAP.

Please do not leave your uniform until the last moment as you may end up with a sizing that does not fit.

The next newsletter out will be to individuals with MW team selection and any updated details. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS ALWAYS A TEAM FEE, to cover all prior, during and after administration costs.

* Team Fee for all: $30.00

* You will receive the invoice for team fee prior to National T&F Championships.

Finally, we hope all your training is going well and look forward to sharing your achievements for all your hard work.

RELAY TEAMS:

Selection of the Relay Squads will be made by the selectors prior to the Championships. Final Team selection will be made by the team Managers in consultation with the selectors.

Selection will be based on the following:

• Performances in relevant sprint events
• Experience in relays and availability to attend at least one practice prior to departure.
• Ensuring athlete is able to compete in their own individual event and not compromised by a relay event.​​​​​​​
