Athletic Shoe Regulations

It appears that many have not picked up on these changes, (see appendix 3). Shows rule up to 31 October 2024, then a second section for changes from 1 November 2024.

It mainly relates to Road shoes being worn on the track in track events.

It seems that some athletes are bringing shoes from overseas and selling them on to the unsuspecting. We need to ensure all athletes competing at WA Ranking meets, Classic meets, Permit meets, Continental Tour, and Nationals are all wearing the correct shoes. If they aren’t, they won’t get past the call room, or if they do and then it’s found that they’re wearing incorrect shoes, their results will be removed.

There is also an easy and fast way to check shoes. Open the following link and type in the Model name or Model Number and it will tell you right away if it is approved or not. If you’re not sure of the name/model, there is a link at the top of the page ‘full list’ that you can scroll through.
